Coffee, breakfast, and other morning medicines
Why any of this is required comes down to one number: estimated absolute bioavailability is 1% to 2% for Ozempic tablets, and the absorption happens in the stomach itself — the mechanism behind the rules explains the water limit and the wait from the trials they came from.
Coffee is a beverage, so it waits. Breakfast waits. Other oral medicines wait at least 30 minutes, then keep their own instructions. If another medicine has an empty-stomach rule or needs monitoring, ask your pharmacist to decide the order.
Do not move a prescription simply because the Ozempic timer ended. The unlock time answers one question: when the Ozempic tablet's minimum wait is complete.

Why does the Ozempic tablet have to be taken on an empty stomach?

Food in the stomach interferes with that window, which is why the label states plainly that concomitant food intake reduces semaglutide exposure.
Can I take Ozempic tablets in the afternoon instead of the morning?
The label specifies the morning, so an afternoon dose is a departure from it rather than an alternative it offers. If mornings genuinely do not fit your schedule — shift work, no fixed start — that is a conversation for your prescriber, not something to solve by moving the dose.
Why only 4 ounces of water?
